The
Barony of Caerthe is home to many different unofficial groups within
the SCA. And though they are unofficial in the eyes of the Society,
they are our beloved friends, hosts and defenders.
Companie of
the Goldyn Lyon (Barony of Caerthe)
The Goldyn Lyons
have joined together to create an environment in which we can re-create
the activities and culture of Gothic Europe, roughly the twelfth
through the fifteenth centuries. This was a time of innovation and
growth that bridged the Medieval and Renaissance periods, and featured
the development of the feudal system and the closely allied Tournament.
We
base our philosophy on the knightly ideals of honor, nobility, and
chivalry, and try to emulate the best of our chosen period of time and
place, as well as the virtue contained in striving for an authentic
re-creation of the culture and artifacts. To that end, we have created
an expectation of authenticity among our members, in order to enrich

House Thistlekeep (Canton of Hawk's Hallow)
House Thistlekeep is nestled in the northern reaches of the Barony of Caerthe. It is the home of Lord Eric Morrison
and Lady Ailinn Shadowfox. They have gathered around them a band
of archers and artisans whose purpose is to inspire others to embrace
the ideals of the Society through example. We provide service by
holding offices at Canton, Barony and Kingdom levels, by running or
assisting at events and assisting others with their projects. We
are always trying to improve the appearance of our camp site or feast
area by eliminating or disguising the mundane. Thistlekeep holds
quarterly business meetings and a monthly project meeting. The
skills of the household members run the gamut from archery,
calligraphy, woodworking, leather craft, cooking and music to fiber
arts and garb making. We are always studying new things and
researching to make a difference in our presentation.
Delarosa Manor
(Canton of Bloodstone)
Delarosa Manor is home to Viscount Schawn Sterling Leopard
(KSCA) and Viscountess Diana Della Rosa di Pergola and their extended
blood of squires and men-at-arms and their families. Originating in
Atenveldt's Principality of the Sun, this is a large fighting group
spans several kingdoms and is devoted to Chivalric Virtues on the Field
of Valor, in the strain of war or in the company of Court. The fighting
unit travels en masse to inter-kindgom events as well as to heavy
fighting events throughout Outlands.
Chateau Flammel
(Canton of Bloodstone) Chateau Flammel
was founded in the the Kingdom of Caid in 2002. At the most basic
level, the group came together to serve the local barony's need for
already organized service crews and to assure baronial financial
stability in a time when fund raising was desperately needed. Chateau
Flammel aimed to fill the void with labor and fund raising
efforts. Times were at a low ebb creatively and in terms of pageantry
so the group aimed their personal efforts toward giving more color and
ambience to the experience that is the Current Middle Ages through a
more theatrical expression of these times. The hope was to close the
gap of disbelief between what is and what can be in this magical
cross-time experience that is the SCA.
In
earliest 2007, the entirety of the group moved from Caid, scattering
members into other Kingdoms for a variety mundane reasons. The house is
currently centered in Caerthe's Canton of Readstan
(Kingdom of the Outlands), but maintains close contact with members and
house affilliates elsewhere. The house has settled into a new role as a
gathering Courtiers, perpetuating the fine arts and education in
courtly skills. Chateau Flammel
is now styled as a Finishing School, training the skills of Renaissance
nobility's social and political life and teaching the management skills
necessary to make the Society prosperous. Head-of-house and curriculum

House Loewenschloss (Barony of Caerthe)
Lowenschloss
(Lion's Castle in German) is a family style group first started in 2000
in the barony of Caerthe. We created Lowenschloss to recreate and enjoy
the pageantry of the pre-1650 world. Lowenschloss encourages all
aspects of the Society of Creative Anachronism through the various
arts, sciences, eras and regions of interest of its members. We take
pride that no one person is the leader of the group, instead we all
are, stepping into positions of more or less work as our lives allow.
We encourage our members to enjoy the richness of the SCA in our
personal development.
Inn of the Wandering Dragon (Canton of Ravenhyrst)
The
Inn of the Wandering Dragon is a large, family-based hospitality group
based out of the Canton of Ravenhyrst, but we have members throughout
the Outlands.
Founded Estrella War
XVII, we strive to help people reach their potential in the SCA,
whatever that may be, while doing our best to recreate the authenticity
of the Current Middle Ages. We are very active, and have
individuals skilled in everything from heavy fighting, fencing,
dancing, drumming, heraldry, to a wide variety of arts and sciences.
The group has a weekly meeting at the Inn (in Aurora) on Wednesday
nights to work, carouse, and generally have fun together, and
participates in many events as a group.
