Meet the Peers of Caerthe:
Duke Wolfgang Grothe de Verron
Q: When did you start playing in the SCA and where?
A: 1980, in Tampa, Florida.
Q: What or who got you involved with the SCA?
A: 'I got conned by a couple of friends into attending the Largo Renaissance Faire where the Barony of Rivenwood was doing a demo.' He got in armor that day and enjoyed it so much he's been playing ever since.
Q: When did you get your peerage, and what for?
A: He received his knighthood in 1985/86. He was the first Prince/King of Trimaris, and he was also King in Meridies.
Q:What are your interests within the SCA?
A: His main focus has been his household, Gold Star, and serving the Kingdoms where he's resided.
Q: What is your persona?
A: 14th Century Teutonic Knight.
Q: What is your best advice for a newcomer?
A: Have fun, meet people and find your niche' says Duke Verron.
Q: What is your best advice for a new peer?
A: 'I remind them that they are just getting started on a journey, and that they must keep the game fun for everyone else,' he says.
Q: Tell me about your most memorable SCA moment.
A: Duke Verron says that the first time he was able to knight one of his squires was memorable for him. 'The sense of accomplishment for turning them into a peer is very satisfying,' he says.
Ultimately, he tells us that the main compensation for being a King is being able to give an award to someone who really deserves it,'someone who is exemplary.'
