We invite one and all to join us for The Academy of Grace and Valor, a Weekend Training Event that promotes the Combat, Chivalry, Beauty, and Pageantry of Heavy and Light Fighting, and Archery, and the Tournaments that accompany them.

Featuring Instruction in the Martial Arts, Chivalry, Pageantry, and more, with Renowned Instructors from many Kingdoms, Grand Tournaments with Worthy Prizes, Beautiful Erics and Heraldic Banners.

Our own “Rampant Lion Inn” to provide delicious food on site.

Site & Directions

The Event will be held at the Quint Valley Fairgrounds, North Main Street (Rt.36), Byers, CO.

From Denver:
  1. Go east on I-70
  2. Take Exit 316
  3. Turn North on Rt. 36 (Main Street)
  4. After 1/2 mile, turn left onto dirt road (Quint Valley Fairgrounds)
  5. Follow SCA signs

There will be classes available in the categories: Heavy Fighting, Fencing, Archery, and Non-Combat. There will also be several round-table discussions. A schedule with class times can be downloaded here (PDF).

Are you worried, fighters, about actually fighting, with all this class stuff? Pick-up fighting will be available at any time at the Meadow of Honor. It is set aside for this purpose! So relax, you can pick a fight!

On-site Food

Greetings good gentles, Lady Maire Dooley, Innkeeper of the Rampant Lion Inn, invites you all to come partake of the fine food to be served at regular mealtimes. Everything shall be available "a la carte," or to save time, when registering, a 'meal-plan' may be purchased in advance.

A la Carte

Iced tea, lemonade, coffee – $1/16 oz cup or tankard
Breakfast (Saturday & Sunday, 8am-10am)
Egg scramble with sausage, ham, cheese, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, tomato, spinach – $5

Saturday Feast

This glorious feast will be prepared by our very own Mistress Ursula d’Arcy. The theme is Italian, with recipes from Scappi (16th century) or Cuoco Napoletano (late 15th century). Full menu to be announced.

A la carte is not available for the feast; registration is required. Some may be available at the gate.

We invite Blacksmiths, Armorers, Rapier Equipment Merchants, Archery Merchants, Cloth and Trim Merchants, Flower Merchants, Banner & Pennant Merchants, Historical Book Merchants, and any who would support Tournaments, Fighting, Pageantry and Chivalry to apply to the Merchant Coordinator.
